Week 3 - July 12, 2018

Week three in Mexico City! First off I want to give a shoutout to jilly and wish her a happy 11th birthday! I wanted to be there to celebrate so badly. This week we learned a lot for sure. Lots of memorizing scriptures and phrases and words. My goal is 300 new words by the end of this week. We prep for lessons and study language all week. I was doing pretty well in the language so my teachers wanted me to take a test to see if I could switch to the latino district. I got a 33%. I realized I basicslly knew nothing. That was humbling but it motivated me. I still cant comprehend how It works but being here never gets tiring. I havent gotten bored of the daily repetitive routine. We have devotionals every Sunday and Tuesday and they're always so good. I look forward to them every week. This week our district caught a bird who had broken wings and kept it as our pet. Kinda against the rules but "elder" (our birds name) needed help and it was either life or death at this point. We kept him alive for a day and a night and gave him a bath and fed him but the next morning he returned to our father in heaven :( RIP ELDER. We also hyped these two kids in our district up to have a "who could drink the most chocolate milk" contest in the comedor but we were secretly helping one of the kids cheat by drinking his cups while the other kid wasn't looking. The other kid who had no idea didn't want to lose so he drank 12 glasses of chocolate milk. An hour later he was throwing up all over the street. Putting all jokes and games aside, one thing I've learned is how much respect I have for all of the missionaries who have served missions before me. Missions are not easy. There are kids out here who REALLY struggle and it's sad. kids go home, And most of the time it's not because theyre unworthy like most people presume, but Missions are hard, so maybe next time someone comes home, maybe try to find sympathy for that person instead of just thinking the worst. That is something I've learned while I've been here. Until youve been on a mission, you can not fully understand what its like. For my spiritual thought, I want to share D&C 123 Verse 17. We read :

"17 Therefore, dearly beloved brethren, let us cheerfully do all things that lie in our power; and then may we stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed."

I think this scripture speaks for itself. We can only control what we can control! Let go and let god do the rest. I promise if we try our best and have faith, god can help us see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Something I love that was brought to my mind again this week is that if you love god, you love all of his children too!
I LOVE GOD (which means I love you guys)

Hasta La Semana
