Week 15 - Oct 8, 2018

The caption is a joke - and i promise its the very last time ill say that. What I meant to say is,
I LOVE BEING A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS!

This week was super hard to be completely honest but it was super good too. Watching conference as a missionary is so sick. Its like wearing 3d glasses to a movie - everything is just better (and I actually watched all 4 sessions)! The choir thoughhh (shoutout to abbie rowen i saw you in the choir!)... this week I got bitten by two dogs.. the dogs out here aren't like the dogs back home they're actually mean ahaha sometimes I forget that and let them get too close. We met a guy this week who was a veteran in Vietnam and he pulled us into his house and he literally has his house decked out in war stuff and would notttt stop talking. He tested us to see if we could be border patrolmen and gave us scenarios and we had to answer- I passed. He also rambled on and on about how dangerous it is and he said he would take his badge and get us cans of mace that we can carry in our backpacks to get people with if they try to jump us.. We had a lesson with a lady named maura and my companion kept calling her muera which means "die" in Spanish and she kept cracking up. We set a super good baptismal date with elva for the 20th of October and she literally told us she knew it was true without a doubt and then the next day she dropped us. Whenever something like that happens I honestly don't care too much. First off, it's their choice, and second off, it's one person closer to finding people who are actually ready. To be completely honest the one person who we are still teaching is Patti, other than that, it's back to the drawing board! We were super blessed last month and were able to break our zone goal and so our mission president gave us permission to watch ALL 3 AVENGERS MOVIES TODAY.

11 But if it be not built upon my gospel, and is built upon the works of men, or upon the works of the devil, verily I say unto you they have joy in their works for a season, and by and by the end cometh, and they are hewn down and cast into the fire, from whence there is no return.

This is too true and I see it out here all the time. People love lots of worldly forms of entertainment here. These things only bring a "season" of happiness! If people realized how happy they could be with the gospel, everyone would be a member of Christs church.. But the thing is, its hard to see until you're actually doing it, because just as it says in the scriptures, we only gain a witness of these things until after the trial of our faith. The word faith is a word of action. So, until people try this gospel out, do it 100% percent, and live by it's precepts with sincerity, all the gospel will seem to these people is a set of restricting rules.

When in all reality, following these things opens up an entirely new, amazing view of life.

All we need to do is try it out for ourselves!

It was my best friend benny gantners birthday yesterday! Everyone shoot him a happy birthday email if you get the chance please!

Elder Freedman

Hey! This week took a wild turn! So the corona virus is starting to get here to my mission (I think there are like 8 people with it) and ...
